A rare collision tumor of gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the stomach and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

چکیده
Collision tumors involving GIST are very rare. Herein, we report a collision tumor consisting of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The patient was a 76-year-old Chinese male, presenting with abdominal distension, haematemesis and melena. Both the CT scan images and the gross appearance demonstrated special features indicating the possibility of a tumor with two different elements, which were once ignored by the initial diagnosticians. Microscopic and immunohistochemical features identified a collision tumor involving GIST and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. To our best, this is the first such a case reported in the English literature.

Gastric Calcifying Fibrous Tumor Resembling Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor: A Case Report
Calcifying fibrous tumor (CFT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor, affecting children and young adults with a predilection for the soft tissue and the abdominal cavity. CFT of the tubular gastrointestinal tract is very rare with less than 20 cases of gastric CFTs reported in English literature. This benign hypocellular fibrosclerotic calcifying lesion can resemble other spindle cell tumors particularl...

Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) is the most common mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract and most commonly affects the stomach, while fibromatosis is a rare locally aggressive fibrous tissue neoplasm. There have been reports of GIST and fibromatosis occurring in same individual and in most of them fibromatosis occurs within the abdomen. In 75% of patients fibromatosis occurs aft...
متن کاملSynchronous and metachronous gastric gist with pancreatic adenocarcinoma: report of 2 cases and a review of literature
We report two cases of a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) synchronous and metachronous, respectively, with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a GIST involved 3 years after a ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Data from the literature and our cases seem to suggest that incidental GIST may occur synchronously and metachronously with other cancers more fre...
متن کاملCollision Tumor of the Stomach: A Case of an Adenocarcinoma and a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor
A collision tumor of the stomach is a rare event. We report the case of a collision tumor of the stomach consisting of an adenocarcinoma and a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). This is, to our knowledge, the second report in the literature of such a case. A 71-year-old man with abdominal discomfort underwent an esophagogastroduodenoscopy which revealed a tumor of the oesophagogastric junct...
متن کاملContribution of galectin-1, a glycan-binding protein, to gastrointestinal tumor progression
Gastrointestinal cancer is a group of tumors that affect multiple sites of the digestive system, including the stomach, liver, colon and pancreas. These cancers are very aggressive and rapidly metastasize, thus identifying effective targets is crucial for treatment. Galectin-1 (Gal-1) belongs to a family of glycan-binding proteins, or lectins, with the ability to cross-link specific glycoconjug...
